Power supplies transform the electricity coming from your wall to appropriate voltages required by various components in the computer.
Most cases we recommend do not come with power supplies. This way you can choose the most appropriate power supply for your use.
The cube-style and other larger Mini-ITX cases we recommend typically accept regular PSUs. This makes building systems relatively cost-effective.
EVGA SuperNOVA 650 P2, 80+ PLATINUM 650W
The EVGA SuperNOVA 650 P2, 80+ PLATINUM 650W is a fully modular power supply. This means on the inside of the case you will have only the power cables which are required for any installed components. This leads to cleaner builds and, as a consequence, better cooling performance in most situations.
This is an exceptionally efficient PSU ("platinum" level with 92% or higher efficiency). EVGA also provides a 10 year warranty, the best in its class.
MasterWatt 550 Watt Semifanless
The MasterWatt_550_Watt_Semifanless PSU by CoolerMaster is a "bronze" certified semi-modular power supply. The only "hardwired" cables are the motherboard power cables which are always (in a PC) in use. The remaining cables are only plugged in for components which require them. As with fully modular power supplies, this leads to cleaner builds and, as a consequence, better cooling performance in most situations.
The efficiency of this power supply is typically 85%. Depending on your use, you could afford the cost difference to "upgrade" to a "platinum" certified power supply anywhere from a few months to a few years.
SeaSonic SS-400FL2 Active PFC F3
The SeaSonic SS-400FL2 Active PFC F3 400W 80 PLUS Platinum Fanless ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply is a fully modular, fanless power supply. If you are trying to build a completely silent PC, this is where you start!
This is an exceptionally efficient PSU ("platinum" level with 92% or higher efficiency). Seasonic provides a 7 year warranty on this PSU.
SFX PSUs are smaller than standard PSUs and are required in smaller Mini-ITX cases like the Fractal Node 202.
Recommendations coming soon.
You will need both the PicoPSU and the power "brick" to power a small form-factor Mini-ITX system. This power supply is an excellent (and possibly only) choice when building a system in the smallest class of cases (i.e. about 4 liters in volume)
Mini-Box picoPSU-160-XT High Power 24 Pin Mini-ITX Power Supply
This "Pico" (i.e. very small) PSU provides power to the motherboard and power to each of a single SATA and PATA device.
12V 12.5A 150W AC/DC Power Adapter with 5.5mm x 2.5mm DC Plug
This adapter transforms the voltage from your wall to a manageable 12V DC which the Pico PSU then feeds to the computer at various other voltages.
It is like a common laptop power adapter, but offers a little more power than most such adapters.
